Frodo und Sam machten sich auf den Weg in die Dunkelheit - ohne Essensvorräte und Trinken - hatten sie nur ein Ziel, den Schicksalsberg in Mordor. Der Ring musste ins Feuer geworfen werden, bevor er in falsche Hände gerät. Dazu mussten Frodo und Sam erst noch vorbei an den Orks, ohne erwischt zu werden. Müde schleppten sie sich immer weiter hoch, bis sie am Ende ihrer Kräfte waren...So oder so ähnlich ging es Frodo und Sam im Film "Herr der Ringe" und auch wir hatten einen langen Weg vor uns. Eine 8 Stunden Wanderung lag vor uns. Um kurz nach 8 standen wir auf dem Parkplatz am Ende des Tongariro Crossings und trafen dort auf Rebekka und Hannah. Dort haben wir dann ein Auto geparkt und sind mit dem anderem an de Start gefahren (damit wir am Ende keinen Shuttle brauchten). Dann ging auch die Wanderung los. Zuerst ging es nur langsam den Berg hoch und es war ganz entspannend zu laufen. Und wurde auch ziemlich schnell warm, sodass wir schnell in T-Shirts gelaufen sind. Nach ein paar Stunden kamen wir zu einem Schild, auf dem steht, dass man es sich überlegen soll, ob man in der Verfassung ist weiterzulaufen oder lieber umkehrt. Danach kommt das härteste Stück man muss ziemlich lange den Berg hoch und dabei auch viele Treppenstufen. Das war sehr anstrengen, und man hat dann auch gerne Pausen gemacht um die Aussicht zu genießen. Je höher man gegangen ist, desto kälter wurde es. Irgendwann wurde es so kalt, dass man sogar mit Winterjacke, Schal und Mütze gefroren hat und sich Handschuhe gewünscht hätte. Oben angekommen, war ein langes Flaches Stück, das ich dort nicht erwartet hätte. Die Aussicht war einfach toll. Man hat den Schicksalsberg direkt neben einem gesehen, das vulkanische Gestein lang überall herum und die Steinformationen sahen toll aus. Danach ging es nochmal ein Stück den Berg hoch, bis man von oben einen tollen Ausblick auf die zwei Seen Emerald Lake und Blue Lake hatte. Diese sahen richtig toll aus. Das Wasser war türkis und blau und einfach wunderschön. Das war auch der perfekte Ort für die Mittagspause. Nach einer kurzen Pause haben wir uns wieder auf dem Weg gemacht und konnten die meiste Zeit das Bergablaufen genießen. Dabei hatte man auch noch den Ausblick auf den Lake Taupo. Nach 8 Stunden haben wir das Ende erschöpft erreicht, aber waren von der Schönheit der Natur immer noch fasziniert. Nach dem wir vom End-Parklatz wieder zum Anfang gefahren sind, haben wir uns von Rebekka und Hannah verabschiedet und sind wieder nach Hause nach Marton gefahren.
Frodo and Sam went on their way in the darkness - without food and water- they had only one target to get to Mt. Doom in Mordor. The ring had to be destroyed before it got in the wrong hands. Therefore, Sam and Frodo had to pass the Orks without being caught. Exhausted and tied they went up the mountain till they did not have any power anymore...It had to be like this or similar to this for Frodo and Sam in the movie 'Lord of the rings' and we had a long way to go as well, an 8 hours hike. Shortly after 8 we met Rebakka and Hannah at the end car park of the Tongariro Crossing. We parked one car there and drove with the other one to the start (so we didn't have to take a shuttle). Then we started the hike. At the beginning it just went slowly the mountain up and it was quite relaxing to walk up. After a short time, it was really warm and we took some layers off. After a few hours was a sign with the warning on it that you have to think about if you continue of go back. Then the hart part of the hike started. We had to hike up the mountain for quite a long time and had to get up several stairs. That was really exhausting and I was happy to take breaks and enjoy the view. The higher we went the colder it was. At some point it was so freezing cold that we were even freezing in a winter jacket, scarf and hat and we wished that we would have brought gloves. On the top was a very long flat part which we didn't imagined. The view was just amazing. One could see Mt. Doom, everywhere were volcanic stones and the rock formations were great. After the flat part we had to go up a hill again and from up there we had an amazing view of the Emerald and the Blue Lake. The water was so turquoise and blue. It looked beautiful. This was the perfect spot for a lunch break. After a short break we could walk downhill the most time where one had a great view of Lake Taupo. Eight hours later we were exhausted but finish and still fascinated with the beauty of the nature. After we drove again to the start to pick up the other car we had to say goodbye to Rebekka and Hannah and went back to Marton.
